My Red Wing 8881 boots.

Solid boots that are made to last. If you have large feet or twig legs the 'silhouette' might not do you any favours. Still, for people with normal-size or small feet, it's hard to beat them at their price point. Their shoes are not quite as nice as their boots; I don't mean that anything is very different, the two are very similar, I just think the formula doesn't work as well for their shoes. Also, I have some of their oxblood oxfords, and I'm not happy with the moc toe on them, it doesn't actually seem to be moccasin stitching. It's weird, I don't like that. Got them on sale though and they're nice enough shoes. Anyway, their boots come highly recommended from me, just remember to be careful about sizing. The boots are very long and a bit wide; my feet are like a 10 in width and a 9.5 in length (US), I take a 9.5 which fits me in width but is a bit too long. I know someone who also wears a 9.5 whose feet are a pretty standard 10.

The review Boris posted mentioned one thing I forgot to add, and I'll just add my voice to his on this one: the leather insole is extremely stiff (actually, the whole boot/shoe is pretty stiff) out of the box, but gets better as you break it in. The break-in period is a little bit painful but has a happy ending.

Bought a pair because I heard good things about Red Wing, so I made my way to the local Red Wing shop. I was surprised at the price they charged, but I bought a pair of the 875s cause I thought the color was beautiful. Sure, there are those who complain about the "clown silhouette", but those who complain about them are usually skinny twinks. As long as its all proportional to your body. The first few wears will always be painful, because of the leather insoles, but once you have them broken in, they'll be the most comfortable boots you'll wear in your lifetime.
