Supreme is a clothing brand[1] founded by James Jebbia[2] in New York City in 1994. The first Supreme store opened its doors in downtown Manhattan in 1994. [3] In 2004, a store was opened in Los Angeles, California, which is almost double the size of the original New York store.[4] There are other stores in London, Tokyo (Harajuku, Daikanyama & Shibuya), Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka.[5] The Brand caters to the Skateboarding, Hip hop, and Punk rock cultures, the young counter culture at large. They have collaborated with photographers: Larry Clark, Terry Richardson and artists Glassjaw, Kaws, Juicy J, Futura 2000, Josbi, Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami, Devisu, Jeff Koons, Daniel Johnston, Peter Saville (graphic designer) and other artists. Supreme has collaborated with brands such as Nike, Vans, Clarks, The North Face, Levi's, Timberland, Comme des Garçons and WTAPS as well as designers Adam Kimmel and Thom Browne. Supreme stocks its own clothing label as well as Vans, Nike SB, Spitfire, Thrasher and Girl Distribution Company.[6] Supreme experiences a great deal of success in retail outlets with its urban look, skate style outfit. As of 2012, James Jebbia's net worth is estimated at $40 million. [7] Its customers are not necessarily Skater (subculture). A large proportion of them just want to identify with the look or just trend spotters who wants to keep pace with the market.[8]
